September 6, 2007

Hello again. Firstly, thanks to everyone who has left messages, sent text messages and emails of support for my dad. It's been a rollercoaster few days, with his condition going up and down daily. Today was a better day - he was awake for most of it, and seemed a little more comfortable. However, the doctors have decided that the pressure in his head is not going to resolve itself, therefore he will have surgery on Saturday, to put a permanent shunt in his head to relieve the pressure.
Charlie is asking about his Grandpa all the time, and rings my mum every morning to see how they both are. He goes back to playschool on Monday - I can hardly believe the summer holiday has gone already. Christmas will be here before we know it! (In fact, Charlie decided he wanted to watch 'Barney's Night Before Christmas' this morning, so we've already had our first dose of 'Joy to the World' and 'Jingle Bells'!)
We were supposed to have gone on holiday this past week to Center Parcs, with my mum and dad, but obviously the plans have had to be rearranged rather quickly. We were very fortunate that Center Parcs offered to change the week for us, with no charge, to a week near Christmas. All being well, Dad should be well on the road to recovery by then so he and mum should be able to come then.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
