September 6, 2010

Hi folks.
Not much news round here - Charlie's back at school so everything has
gone a bit quiet for six hours a day!
He's really enjoying Year Two so far - he found out today that they
will be given house points this year if they do good work, which
pleased him no end because it's 'just like Hogwarts!'
Unfortunately one of Charlie's two new teachers has broken her ankle,
so I'm not sure what will be happening until she's back at school.
It feels like autumn is really setting in - it has been cold and rainy
today - it's looking like Charlie will be back in his long trousers
tomorrow!
It will be Will's birthday on Thursday - hard to believe he'd have
been eight. I so wish he was here with us - but it's nice to think
he'll have his grandpa with him for his birthday this year, and I'm
relying on my dad to give Will all the birthday hugs I've never been
able to.
Talking of my dad - his headstone is finally finished and has been
set. It's good to see everything looking tidy at the cemetery and to
know that the final few loose ends are being tied up. It's hard to
believe that next month it will be a whole year since Dad left us. In
some ways it feels like it has been forever since I last spoke to him,
but in others it feels like the past twelve months have flown by.
It still doesn't seem real. In so many ways I feel like I'm still
holding my breath - waiting to exhale.
Although the world is still carrying on around me, and in many ways is
carrying me along with it, the part of me that misses my dad so very
much is held in a kind of limbo.
Always there, never more than a thought away.

Anyway, I need to get Charlie-Barley to bed... he needs to be on top
form to win all these house points!
Back soon.

Glad Charlie is happily back to school - I love it too that the kids can get house points! Lucy was even House Captain in her last year!!
I can't believe how fast the time has gone - both with your Dad and Will. Thinking of you through the anniversaries,
Much love,
Helen xx
