November 11, 2010

Hiya - just a quick post to let you know what Charlie got up to last night!Mum had heard that Dr Who, Amy Pond and Rory Williams (aka Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) would be switching on the Christmas lights in Cardiff last night... and we couldn't miss the chance for Charlie to see them in 'real life'!
We headed off to Cardiff after school and managed to get a place in the crowd quite near to the stage.
Charlie spent most of the time sitting on Pete's shoulders (and Pete's 6'4" so he had a very good view!) He really enjoyed waving at the TV cameras as they went past, and loved seeing himself on the big screen. If I can find a link to the footage, I'll post it later!
Admittedly, it was a bit strange having a Christmas carol sing-along in early November, but it was all good fun. There were a couple of choirs, a band and Bob the Builder too, but Chas was hanging in for 'The Doctor' to arrive!
It was so brilliant to see his face light up as they walked on stage! He watched them turn the lights on with Dr Who's sonic screwdriver and really enjoyed the big firework display afterwards.
(Although he did say on the way home: 'Did the Doctor really turn the lights on with his screwdriver? I reckon it's more likely that someone was hiding round the back and just pressed the 'on' switch!' Doh.)
