We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather...

It's my Dad's birthday on Monday. He'd have been 82.
Every year for his birthday, we'd all pile over to Mum and Dad's house for a family barbecue.
Even though Dad isn't here with us any more, we still all get together and have a barbecue on the Saturday nearest to June 18.
This year, however, the weather had other ideas.
Torrential rain and high winds aren't really optimal barbecueing conditions.
Mum, having already bought all the meat, gamely dug out her stove-top skillets and turned the oven on.
But she wasn't accounting for the determination (madness?!) of my two brothers and my husband - who proceeded to grill the lot, outside, in the rain, using the sun parasol as giant umbrella.
You can see from the pic just how wet the patio is and how wet the backs of their shirts are! (And the sunglasses were to keep the smoke out of their eyes, rather than the sun!)
We were convinced someone would call the fire brigade when they smelled the smoke because who in their right minds barbecues in the rain?

We do! :-)
