Fun with friends

We had a lovely day today - we met up with Charlie's friend Noah, along with his parents and his two little sisters at a local farm park.
When I was pregnant with Charlie, I 'met' Noah's mum, Imogen, on the Little Hearts Matter website.
She was the first parent I had contact with who had a child with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Neither Pete nor I really knew what as-yet unborn Charlie's life would be like. We had been told all the bad news and the worst case scenarios, so our imaginations were running away with us.
Noah was just a few months old back then, and Imogen emailed me a photograph of him.
He was a blond, smiley, rosy-cheeked baby, with a dimple in his chin. He had no feeding tube, no oxygen mask - he just looked like a happy, 'normal' baby.
While we knew all the things that could go wrong, it felt like that photograph gave us permission to hope.
We haven't met up for quite a few years, but it was like we only saw each other yesterday! The boys had such a brilliant time chatting, playing and exploring - in fact we had a job getting them to stand still for a photo!
Hopefully it won't be quite so long before we all catch up again next time!

Rosie is into everything at the moment and exploring madly - opening cupboards, pulling books off the shelf, investigating the contents of the bin... She's learning so much, so fast - it's hard work trying to keep up with her! Another first today - she drank from a straw for the first time!

It's my Mum's birthday tomorrow, so Charlie, Rosie and I are heading over to see her, which will be nice. I feel a birthday lunch coming on! :-)
