All good so far...

Check out those sats! The white number - 95!!! Charlie's doing
brilliantly. Everyone seems very pleased with him so far.
All his numbers are where they should be.
They are pacing him externally at the moment - they've turned his
implanted pacemaker off for the time being, but will be turning it on
again when everything has settled down.
He looks great, and is taking all his breaths by himself already. He's
still on the vent, but it's only supporting him a bit, not actually
breathing for him. He's down to 30% oxygen - room air is 21% so he's
doing well.
Plan is to extubate him and wake him up over the next few hours.
We are so proud of him.
(And his nurse has actually got a similar condition - pulmonary
atresia - so she has had several open heart surgeries herself, an
really understands what's going on.)
Thank you SO much, everybody, for all your prayers, thoughts and
positive vibes - we wouldn't have got this far without them. Please
keep them coming - although Charlie's doing really well, the next few
hours are still very important.

Wow! That is amazing! 95!! I can only dream of the day... Our Aly sits in low to mid 80's like your Charlie was pre-Fontan. So glad to hear all went well today and will keep Charlie in our prayers for a speedy recovery. :)
Heart Hugs,
Jenny (Aly's mommy - HLHS)

Wow wow wow wow!! What a star! He's certainly going to be able to chase those girlfriends if he keeps those sats up! I'm so delighted and relieved the surgery went OK, and that they did the pacemaker at the same time. I hope he doesn't feel too groggy when he wakes up, he certainly deserves a good rummage in his "brave boy" bag! Lots of love and prayers coming your way. Ann xx
