May 22, 2010

Hi folks.
It suddenly occurred to me that I haven't updated for a bit - mainly because things have been so busy round here, and Charlie is on the go all the time these days!
First and foremost, Charlie-Boy is doing brilliantly. He really enjoyed being back at school last week - I still can't believe he went straight back into full-time school with no problems at all. He's even gone up another level in his reading books! He's really enjoyed being back with his friends, running around and being able to keep up more easily. He stayed at school for his lunch on Friday too, and was able to eat his dinner much more quickly than normal, so he had a good long time left to play. (Although Friday is always fish and chips day for dinner, which is one of his favourites! That and Wednesdays, which are roast dinner days!)
His INR is stabilising nicely, and we've been given a fortnight's grace between blood tests, which is nice. So far, everything seems to be pretty ok on the warfarin front, and I'm not noticing him bruising or bleeding excessively. He's still swallowing his tablets with no problems at all, which is another big success in my book, as I was fully expecting to have to crush the tablets in yoghurt or something to get them down.
The weather has been wonderful here for the past few days - really hot and sunny. So hot, in fact, that Charlie went to school in his shorts yesterday! About time his legs lost their wintry whiteness!
Chas is still smitten with Pinny and Gig - he's been cuddling them for most of today. They seem to be settling in pretty well - they're still not particularly keen to be lifted out of their cage, but once they're out, they love sitting on his knee being stroked and fed choice bits of carrot and cucumber!
I think that's about it for now - things are rapidly heading back to wonderful, manic, busy normality. Pete's still working away a lot in Halifax and London, and now Charlie's finally back at school, I'm starting to give the house a much-needed springclean.
It's hard to find a moment to breathe, let alone blog, but I'm making a conscious effort to keep blogging as often as possible. It's so easy to forget the little, day-to-day things that make life so very precious.
