June 23, 2011

Well, we've just about calmed down after our pacemaker panic yesterday, and life is ticking along as normal.
Charlie is absolutely fine today, and his pacer site isn't even sore any more, which is a great relief.
Pete's had a pretty trying couple of days - his work laptop has given up the ghost, and his Blackberry has been a bit iffy too. He took his laptop in yesterday morning for the technicians to sort out, only for them to ring later and tell him that it's beyond repair and he needs a new one.
It's a bit of a problem because he works from home, so no laptop = very little work done. It might sound ideal, but he's just gone to collect his new machine, and will be working well into the night tonight to try to catch up. :-(
I just found out that Charlie will be off school next Thursday because of teachers going out on strike. (The school has started a new text message service, so they text parents with reminders or if there's any unexpected news - it's great!)
I have no doubt that Charlie will be highly delighted at the prospect of a day off next week - and it suits me too, to be honest! I love having him home, so an unexpected extra day off is a bit of a bonus. Less so though for all the parents who work and who will need to sort out childcare. The joys of being a stay-at-home-mum!
I picked up some free samples of various toiletries yesterday, and Charlie was rummaging through the box last night. He came across a tube of 'cooling foot rub' and asked what it was for.
I explained, and he decided he wanted to give me a pedicure - Charlie-style - and I am certainly not about to turn down a foot rub, even if he is a bit vicious with a foot file!!
So slathered my feet with foot rub, moisturiser and baby wipes, and 'drove' a toy tractor up and down the soles of my feet, while I reclined on the sofa pretending to be a 'customer'!
Absolute bliss - that's the kind of pretend play that I could get used to!
:-)
