Turning a corner?...

I almost hesitate to type this, but Charlie FINALLY seems to be on the mend. He hasn't coughed too much at all today, thank goodness. He still looks pale, but seems to be pretty fine in himself.
He's been off school today (as well as all last week, and the Friday before that) and I'm still not sure if he should be back at school tomorrow - but that's an improvement in itself, because for the past week I've known that I couldn't possibly send him to school.
He and I have just been baking shortbread (call me domesticated!) - he loves cooking, and I'm hopeful that he'll scoff at least three of the biscuits (lots of lovely calories to bulk him up pre-op!)
Today is the first time for a week and a half that I've actually felt hopeful that we might be able to go ahead with his surgery as planned next week.
This really has been a nasty bug - I've felt pretty rotten with it too, and it usually takes Charlie a bit longer than average to recover from whatever bugs are doing the rounds.
So we're still hoping that he'll be able to go back to school later this week (if not tomorrow!) and we'll be all systems go for next week. (Assuming the hospital doesn't cancel us because of a lack of ICU beds!)
We're hoping to be all organised by Friday, so we can spend the weekend with Charlie before he goes to hospital - he's been choosing what he wants to do, where he wants to go, and what he wants to eat! It's looking like a fun weekend ahead!
Back soon with the long-promised proper update - and hopefully more news of Charlie's continued improvement!
